Key Points
- Make a 40–60mm long medial longitudinal incision at the junction of the first metatarsal dorsum and plantar skin.
- Incision extends from the middle of the first metatarsal shaft toward the proximal end, close to the medial cuneiform bone.
- Perform a wedge-shaped osteotomy near the base, completely cutting it off.
- Soft tissue laxity is required.
