What are mini locking plates?

The Mini Locking Plate System is an orthopedic trauma fixation solution designed for small bone and periarticular fracture stabilization, typically using a 2.0/2.4/2.7/3.5 mm locking plate system. It is widely used in hand, foot & ankle fracture fixation, maxillofacial reconstruction, and small fragment trauma surgery.

In clinical use, the system provides angular stable fixation through locking screw technology, meaning the screw locks into the plate to form a fixed-angle construct. This helps maintain stability even in osteoporotic bone or complex fracture patterns.

Types of Mini Locking Plate

Mini locking plates are available in multiple anatomical designs to match different fracture requirements:

One-third Tubular Locking Plate – used for small bone fixation in hand, wrist, and ankle

T-Shape Locking Plate – commonly applied in distal radius and calcaneus fractures

L-Shape Locking Plate– suitable for distal femur and angular fixation cases

H-Shape Locking Plate– used in proximal tibia fractures and non-union treatment

Y-Shape Locking Plate – applied in clavicle, proximal humerus, and complex reconstruction

Hook Locking Plate – designed for complex periarticular fractures where standard fixation is difficult

Key Advantages

The mini locking plate system is manufactured from medical-grade titanium, offering high biocompatibility, strong corrosion resistance, and imaging compatibility (X-ray/CT/MRI friendly). The locking mechanism provides angular stability, reducing the risk of screw loosening and secondary displacement.

Clinically, it is widely used in hand and foot trauma surgery, small bone fracture fixation, periarticular fracture reconstruction, and minimally invasive orthopedic procedures. Its pre-contoured design allows better anatomical fit, reducing intraoperative bending and improving surgical efficiency.

For surgeons, the system offers simplified fixation workflow, stable construct in complex fractures, and improved intraoperative control. For distributors and hospitals, it provides a complete mini fragment trauma solution with consistent performance and wide clinical applicability, making it suitable for high-volume orthopedic trauma markets.
