Scarf Osteotomy
- Indicated for hallux valgus angle of 20°~40° and metatarsal angle of 11°~16°.
- Make a 3–5/8cm long medial longitudinal incision at the junction of the metatarsal dorsum and sole of the foot.
- Perform a “Z” shaped osteotomy on the inner side, with the dorsal osteotomy line located on the dorsal side of the metatarsal neck, and perform a horizontal osteotomy.
- Distal screw interlocking design.

Indications
- Mild to moderate hallux valgus deformity.
- The angle between the 1st and 2nd metatarsals (IMA) is less than 16°.

Key Points
- Make a 30–50mm long medial longitudinal incision at the junction of the first metatarsal dorsum and plantar skin.
- Incision starts from the proximal end of the adjacent interdigital joint and extends towards the proximal end, close to the base of the metatarsal bone.
- Perform a “Z” shaped osteotomy on the inner side, with the dorsal osteotomy line located on the dorsal side of the metatarsal neck, and perform a horizontal osteotomy. The line is located on the inner side of the metatarsal shaft.
- Soft tissue laxity is required.
